Allow access to a single site only

Jul 10 04 6:06 pm

I have restricted internet access to certain users on the LAN. These users are only granted access on demand. But I want to allow only one or two sites that they can always access e.g. I want to allow only our company's website and www.symantec.com to be accessible from any computer on the LAN.

Current settings for granting access to the users is through Services tab -> WWW Proxy Server -> Properties -> Policies tab -> Add button -> Everyone -> in Location tab I have defined IP addresses that are granted or revoked internet access. Further, I have blocked certain sites through Ban list tab. But I want to define a rule in Wingate to allow only one website to be viewed.

How can I set this up in Wingate ?

Hi there

You can do this simply by when configuring the approriate users access policy in the WWW proxy (as you mentioned included users that are granted access). If you go to the Advanced tab of the properties for recipient of the policy and select the "Specify which rights this client has access for"

Create a policy Filter similar to
" This Criterion is met if" Http URL| ends with | Symantec.com.
This way users will only be able to access the URLs that end with Symantec.com.
Be aware that most URLs change as you access them so you might want to precheck specific URLs to be accessed when entering these here.
Make sure that if you have other sites to add that you create a new FILTER and criterion for each.

Hope this Helps
