With reference to previous problem, not really any further forward.
I set up a W2K Pro system to act as a Wingate server with nothing else on it. Tested it in my workshop uploading & downloading from my client's website server and it worked with no problems.
Put the server in place at my client's - everything working except for FTP which will now allow small files <2K to upload to his web server from his workstation, but fails on anything bigger (the same problem from another workstation). Works fine connecting to my server from the same client systems.
He can FTP to his web server from his system using dial-up so the problem must be network/Wingate related.
Please, please, can anyone suggest what could possibly be wrong with either his network or Wingate? Where should I look for a clue?
Thanks
Jackie

Just to clarify a few things. Firstly, where is his FTP server? On the same machine as WinGate? Also the following works:
His LAN to his FTP server for <2k files
His LAN to your FTP server for all files
Internet to his FTP server for all files
What about from the WinGate machine to the FTP server? Is there AV installed (with WinGate)? Oh and which version of WinGate?
As everything seems to work fine in your workshop, but not at his office, i'm suspicous of what is on his network between WinGate and the FTP server, any other software installed?

Neil

I think I may have found the problem - testing the theory tomorrow.
It would appear that the adsl router I installed - Netgear DG834 - has a known problem to do with MTU. I did a search on the Internet and it would appear quite a few people have had problems with it.
Netgear's site has advice and a link to a site with a program for changing a computer's MTU. I tried the latter yesterday but it made no difference. Netgear suggested trying different MTUs in the router but that made no difference either.
Tomorrow I'm taking my D-Link DSL-504 to test. If that works I intend returning the Netgear.
I'll let you know the result.
Thanks

The problem was the router. With the D-Link in place all file uploads are fine.
I brought the Netgear back with me, and have the same problem uploading to the same site.
However, it didn't solve the problem with Outlook Express detailed elsewhere which support implied could be a bug in Wingate.
