Hey,
I'm trying to use wingate with newsleecher. I'm using the tcp mapping and connecting newsleecher to the server via port 119. All newsleecher says is 'Idle (Transfers Scanned)'. What could be the problem?

I downloaded the application, looked at the setting and I notice you can use SOCKS with it - can you try that? Or NAT? OR WGIC?
If you want more assistance then let me know where this TCP Mapping is connecting to and how you have configured it in this news application.

In newsleecher i have configured it to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 119 as seen here:
In wingate, I used the tcp mapping service and set it to run on port 119.
Is this the correct method? In wingate it says that it is recieving connections but I get the error in newsleecher 'Idle (Transfers Scanned)'.

1. If you want to use the SOCKS proxy then you should change the port number in the image you have linked to 1080 - you may also want to try SOCKS 4
2. It looks like this software is on the same computer as WinGate - hence you should not need to use any proxies - unless you really want to.
3. If you were using a TCP Mapping, then you would set up the mapping to the news server that you want to connect to, and then I would presume you go to the following location in Newsleecher to add the server:
Newsleecher --> Usenet menu --> Manager --> Server --> Add New Server - then enter the details on how to connect to this TCP Mapping.
(When data is received to the TCP Mapping, it will just relay it to the remote server you setup in the mapping.
