Proxy Entry and Proxy cleint

Jul 26 04 5:57 am

If I install wingate proxy server:

1. shall i need to install wingate proxy client in each client.
2. shall i need to enter proxy entry in each client.

Can I use internet on client without using above two option.

Hi Imran,

There are three different options for connecting your clients to your WinGate server. You can install the WinGate Internet Client(WGIC) on each client, this will capture the client sessions and direct them to the WinGate server. With version 6 the WGIC will allow you to configure and control client access from the WinGate server.

You can make a proxy connection by setting the clients to connect to the WinGate machine as their proxy server.

You can make a NAT connection by simply setting the client's default gateway and DNS server to point to the internal NIC of the WinGate server, you can gain proxy level control over NAT sessions by turning Transparent Redirection (TR) on. This sounds like the type of connection you want.

Regards,

Matt
