How do you access the Internet from a program? That is, a program that tries to access the Internet with
https://IPAddress:443. WinGate proxy server does not appear to see the request. The workstation that is running the program accesses the Internet using IE LAN connections:
Type, Proxy Address to use, Port
HTTP: 192.168.0.1 80
Secure : 192.168.0.1 80
FTP: 192.168.0.1 80
Gopher: 192.168.0.1 80
Socks: 192.168.0.1 1080
My question is how do I get WinGate GateKeeper to see the request.
The program runs fine without WinGate on a computer using a cable modem and even on the box with WinGate GateKeeper on it. On the WinGate box programs just access the Internet straight out, bypassing the proxy.
I have used TCP services for some programs but the one using https (port 443) seems to be different, or I don't have the correct setup for the TCP service I tried to set up.
Thanks for any help,

Have you tried:
WWW Proxy - HTTPS -
check - Allow Any
or
- Add Port 443

Thanks for the suggestion, but it was already set to "allow any".
Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks,

Can you see any Port 443 hits on the firewall?

The firewall screen is blank.

Is Port 443 allowed in Port Security?

Not sure, where would I see that?

Extended Networking - Port Security - LAN Connection to Internet
Aug 15 04 4:42 am
Extended Networking is turned off due to an earlier VPN problem, which now will not matter.

OK - I have made some assumptions that are not correct.
Are you using WGIC?
Is the WG server your default Gateway?
This program is not IE or bound the the connection set-up IE is using?

Are you using WGIC?
No, this is the Wingate client right?
Is the WG server your default Gateway?
Yes
This program is not IE or bound the the connection set-up IE is using?
Program is not IE, I don't know about it being bound to IE. It ia just
a program that runs and accesses the Internet itself.
The program runs fine from my home computer with cable modem.
The program also runs fine on the WinGate box.
I turned on the Extended Networking, low setting and the port 443 is not listed.
The worstation in question is turned off for the weekend and I am accessing the computers remotely. I will try the ENS next week and see how it goes.
Should I use the low firewall setting and open 443 "from the Internet" or "to the Internet"?

Sounds good.
Add Port 443 - TCP -Allow Lan Connection to the Internet
Let us know how it goes.
