usb *dslmodem installed and working in the windowse machine.
1 nic on each computer and one twisted cable. (3com and nvidia nic, any known issues?)

using wingate, setup to use any incoming ip, and the firewall is off.
tried some settings, cant get the *nix machine to acces internet.
it gets some weird ip, that it cant surf/irc on.
what are the possible things i could test/do.
tried abaut everything, i think :/
uninstalled the software mixing with the settings etc, tested the nics, and tp-kabel.

setup:
win98se -> wingate -> linux, slackware.

what sort of IP does it get? Is it like 169.254.X.Y? If so, that is an autonet address, indicating it was not able to access a DHCP server.

check in your firewall tab in GateKeeper that there aren't UDP broadcast packets showing up in there on port 67 (that would indicate you are blocking DHCP lookups).

Check also your adapter usage in GateKeeper - on the network tab. If your internal adapter is not set to Internal, then double click on it to change it.
