backup & transfer wingate settings

Aug 31 04 7:07 pm

Hello,

We are changing our server machine due to performance issues, so we will need to shift the WinGate server also from the old server to the new one. So my queries are as follows:

1. Is there a way to backup and transfer the settings from the original wingate installation to the one that has been set up on the new server?

2. While activating our license, will the automatic activation work or will we have to do something else to activate the license?

Awaiting a reply.

Thanks and regards,

Ani.

Easiest is to use GateKeeper->Advanced Options to export the current settings. Or, if you are comfortable using the registry, you can export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Qbik Software\WinGate yourself. (All warnings on registry operations apply)

Then, a re-import after installation on the new server should re-apply your current settings. Remember, import it when WinGate is stopped.

Activation should work fine - note though that if you are transferring the license from one machine to another you must deactivate on the first server before deleting it OR activating it on the other server.
