ADSL And Wingate

Sep 09 04 4:06 am

Hi I Just Upgraded From ISDN To ADSL And Would Like To Use Wingate To Allow People o Connect
How Do I Go About Doing This As ADSL Does Not Use A Dial Up Connection

What does your network look like? This means, how many interfaces do you have in your WinGate Server, where do you plug the ADSL intf. in and where does your local area machines slot into the picture?

Normally, people would setup WinGate on a machine with two network cards. One to point it at the ADSL device and another to point it to the hub / switch that your local network is on. Your WinGate machine then becomes the default gateway for your network, with it handling traffic between that and ADSL.

There are alternative ways, though - so really need to know a bit more about what you have, how it's all hooked up, etc.

The Network

We Have Our Wingate Server (Win98se) And Our ADSL Router On One Switch Joining The Rest Of The Network.
Most Of The Machines (Clients) Run Win98se.

So
Switch
Router Wingate Server Cable to Next Switch
=
PC1 PC2 PC3 pc4 pc5 etc cable to next switch

All Machines Are On Static IP's But We Have No PDC Or BDC

Should be no problem at all - just make sure that your adapter that connects to ADSL modem has "External" usage set.
