W2K Server VPN and WinGate

Feb 10 08 7:03 am

Hello,

I'm trying to configure WinGate to allow PPTP VPN connections to my W2K server behind the Wingate router/firewall.

I have opened the following ports:

TCP 1720-1723
UDP 500 & 1701

all forwarded to 192.168.10.1

the W2k/VPN server IP is: 192.168.10.1 and the wingate router IP is 192.168.10.9.

Yet I still get the error: Error 721: The remote computer is not responding.

On the client machine that is trying to connect.

I don't understand what the issue is. The proper ports are open.

I've done a search and it seems other people have this issue too with WinGate, while other's say it should just work. Yet there is no concrete solution to this issue.

Can anyone help me get this going?

FWIW, the WinGate router is running two cable modems not sure if that makes a difference in the way things need to be configured.

Thanks!

never mind, this thread solved my issue:

sorry can't post the link to the thread on this site that helped me.... in any case the thread title is: Using Windows VPN behind Wingate in case another person that's having this issue needs to find the answer quick

Was the Don't Translate Source IP... I didn't have that checked.
