Sending Email

Hi,

Yesterday, all email from my computer (a mac) and my wife's computer ( windows xp) was working fine. Last night, I finally got around to configuring wingate for evaluation in the way I think I will use it, which for me means turning off all unneeded services. I am not using the email gateway/server features. So I turned off a lot of services, one of them being the wingate dhcp service. Inbound and outbound email on my mac is still fine. Only inbound works on my wife's XP. So I turned DHCP back on in Wingate and now her's works again. Can someone explain this? What does Wingate DHCP have to do with outbound SMTP on XP running outlook where it has no effect on MAC OSX running MAC mail?

Thanks!

Hi

DHCP only has the ability to set IP configuration parameters. So the only way I can imagine that any machine is developing a reliance on wingate's DHCP is if it is obtaining an IP and most importantly default gateway and DNS settings from WinGate.

Do you have any other DHCP server on your network? It's typical for say a DSL/NAT router to run a DHCP server by default.
