can't use printer across vpn

hi support,
i've successfully connected 2 lans via vpn across the internet...but the problem is that it is pretty slow to add printer from another side of network (about 5-10 mins to complete the add dialog) and also after adding it ( the printer name is shown on my printer windows)...i cannot print to that printer....it said "user intervention required...use printer offline" after i unchecked the "use printer offline" option...i still can't print to it....(it takes so long too to complete the uncheck procedure"
i wonder what is going wrong with my network? both places use 128kbps adsl to connect to the internet....
