Wingate engine needs to be restarted every hour?

Nov 10 04 11:18 pm

Clients are loosing connectivity to the internet after about 1 hour of the Wingate engine being started?

Internet access from the Wingate machine is fine but any machines connecting through the Proxy loose connectivity.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Need for hourly reboot

This is happening to me also .. been happening since install of 6.0.3 ... I can *NOT* find the problem. Seems to be something to do with DNS/WINS Resolver *OR* DNS service *OR* GDP Service according to forum

Would sure like a tip on exactly what to look at.

Hi Don,

In Garrett's case, it was an effective DNS loop. The first thing to do would be to try and narrow down what is happening.

First - can your client computers still resolve DNS when that happens? If they cannot, enable full logging on the DNS/WINS Resolver (Including debug) and try a DNS lookup from one of the client machines. (Try for something reasonably unique so it will stand out from the rest of the logs).

Then, have a look at the DNS/WINS Resolver log file to see if you can see anything useful there. (Or post / email here)
