Pls help Wingate newbie - Kazaa and WGIC questions

Nov 26 04 6:06 pm

Hi, I am currently evaluating Wingate with a view to purchasing it. I would like to know if it is possible to block the use of peer-to-peer programs like Kazaa on my home LAN. I would also like to know if it possible to set Wingate up so that clients can only use the internet if they are going through the Wingate Internet Client. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Clive.

Hi, Clive

You can control your network clients when it comes to undesired applications/network traffic. If you set up your policies such as only the trusted and authenticated users can go directly through NAT and configure WGIC centralized control in a way that only trusted applications can have access to the internet, then you can prohibit peer-to-peer traffic.
