Dear User, If you are behind a firewall or within a company local area network (LAN), you will need to open outgoing TCP connections to Port 51215 on your proxy server.
Other SMS Services (Ufone, Insta or Paktel) CELL Phone service s

How do your clients connect out through WinGate - are you using Proxy, WGIC or NAT?
Dec 03 04 8:45 pm
Dear Pascal
We are use the defauld setting ie NAT proxy,
it is also mentioned that Microsoft OutLook Express is also not being configured with WinGate
Pascal wrote:How do your clients connect out through WinGate - are you using Proxy, WGIC or NAT?

NAT is when you have no applications specifically configured on the client, but have set the default gateway and DNS server to the WinGate machine. This uses network address translation.
Proxy is when you configure the browser to proxy through the WinGate Server. The WinGate server makes the connections / communicates on behalf of the client.
Which one of the two are you using? Or do you have your browsers set to use proxy, but other applications are using NAT?

we have configured the browsers to proxy through the Wingate Server Proxy. and all other applications are using NAT.

And do you have the antivirus firewall set to allow the appropriate ports?
Dec 08 04 5:32 am
Yes, all the appropriate ports are set to allow

neil wrote:well something must change on his server for it to stop............ so maybe try a different machine with nothing running just wingate?
Is that possible? As Neil says, from the sound of it it works for a while, then stops functioning. You do have a few different products installed which could be conflicting with eachother. Elliminating possible conflicts might be the easiest way to resolve this.

What provides the antivirus / firewall functionality then? The amount of time it takes before you are unable to use these applications - is it relatively consistent? From the sound of it the firewall is preventing the connections. You've indicated you have an antivirus product providing the firewall funcitonality and that you've opened all the ports on WinGate. This would suggest that the antivirus product is somehow timing out it's hash entries switching to blocking the traffic. But, with the large number of users you have actively (?) going through I wouldn't expect a timeout to be the cause of the problem.

Secondly, there has been significant driver improvements since 5.2.3. As you have a second machine setup; it might pay to try 6.0.3 with a trial license. 6.0.3 is generally a lot better behaved with messenger applications than 5.2.3 is. Also; it features dynamic binding which could play a role (Depending on configuration, etc.)
