AOL rejects email as "unsolicited bulk email"

Can anybody help? I can recieve email on client machine but if I try to send email from client Wingate tries to send to recipient, wingate then sends mail to client informing me that AOL has rejecting email as being "unsolicited bulk email".

With my personal SMTP server I need to set it to use TLS and have "Use Username and password" ticked in Thunderbird so it knows who is sending email through it. (Rather than a spammer sending through an open SMTP server).

I suspect that you are experiencing a similar problem and need to auth with it. (But, have never used AOL so can't be 100% sure).

So, how do you have WinGate configured to send mail? Or rather, how did you configure it?

It's difficult to say as when i got home from work today I turned everything on and found that the hdd had died in the server so I've spent the afternoon reinstalling on another drive and have not got round to putting wingate back on

I think I know where I went wrong. Should have set option for "mailboxes on this domain hosted on another server" didn't so no DNS record for the domain
