Very long delay when downloading files

Apr 20 05 2:35 am

We use Wingate 6 with the Kapersky Antivirus plug-in through a T1 connection on a Windows 2000 proxy server. Everything seems to work OK, except when a client tries to download a file. For example, on any webpage with a typical "click here to download" link, when a client clicks on the link it can take up to 5 minutes before the Windows "Open it or save it" dialog box appears. After that, the file will download OK; it just always takes a very loonnngggg time to get to.

Why is there such a long delay?

Thanks

In all likely hood because you do not have drip-feeding ticked on the plugins page. Without drip-feeding the entire file is being spooled locally and scanned before data is returned to the client. With drip-feeding it is retrieved and fed to the client as it is received. The client will never receive the entire file until it could be scanned when drip-feeding is turned on.

So, try turning drip-feeding on and see how it goes.
