1. Check that the POP3 Proxy Service is installed. If it is not, right click and add a new POP3 Proxy service.
2. Setup your email client. Here is an example of Outlook Express.
On the Servers tab, please note.
1. Setting Outlook Express to collect mail via POP3 Proxy on same computer.
2. There is no scanning for OutGoing Email. So I have the normal mail server address in there
3. To use the POP3 Proxy, we must use a syntax that states the username, and the mail server address.
In my example:
test@freelanceman.com#mail.freelanceman.com
(username for email)#(mail server location on internet)
Sometimes email servers are set to not require the domain name for the login
test#mail.freelanceman.com
(username for email)#(mail server location on internet)
4. The POP3 Proxy service runs on port 8110
5. Since when I am sending mail (SMTP), I need to specify my normal email login info. Since we are not using a proxy, there is no delimiter (#)
Now that I have gone over the correct settings. Lets put a test file through there to see if the KAV plugin picks up a virus. Download test file below directly to your desktop. Then attach to an email, and send it to your self. Once sent, check your email. When the KAV Plugin finds the virus, it will send you an email with "Intercepted Message" as the subject. You should then be able to go to GateKeeper and view the quarantined file
GateKeeper --> View menu --> Quarantine. Look for the Quarantine tab at the bottom of GateKeeper
