Hello everyone.
This problem start 4 days ago, after a change of ip.
the company has change the domain ip's and now every ten minutes the connection goes down, i cpuld get it back by stopping the service and restart it.
I have checked the configuration on the wingate server but nothing strange, since the change of ip i went to the network session of wg and check that the new ip was in the right device.
everything looks fine.
is there any change that i have to make or it is something with wingate?
Thx in advcd for the help

Hi,
Can you clarify a couple of things here?
When you say you had a change of IP I assume you mean your external IP address. Did you change ISP?
Are you using a static IP address from your ISP or a dynamic IP address?
If it is dynamic please check the firewall tab in GateKeeper, are you seeing any hits on port 67? You can create a port opening on port 67 for connections from the internet, see if this helps.
Is the IP address that you've been assigned a public IP address?

No, what we have change is the internal ip address (lan).
we havent change the ISP, still the same and they use dynamic IP's
have checked the WG firewall and no hint of any kind.
what other things do i have to check?
it is frustrating have to be stopping and starting the service every 10 mins and the bunch of calls cause the internet went down.
any other sugestion?
should i reintall?

What IP address range have you changed to?
Is it a DNS error that you're getting or a connection being dropped? Can you still ping external sites by name? If not can you ping them by IP?
Does the WinGate machine also lose internet access?

i have constantly internet connection on the wingate machine, but the clients lose their connection every ten minutes.
when u say ping by name r u talking about going to any page by it URL?
if that! yes i can go 2 any url by name.

The LAN connection on the WinGate Server itself - does it have a static or dynamic IP?
Jun 22 05 2:21 pm
yes, it has an static ip
the isp side is the one that has dynamic
any sugestion?

u think that reinstalling will solve the problem?
Jun 22 05 4:52 pm
Don't think so - no. If the only thing that changed was, for example, changing the internal IP range from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.1.x, then re-installing WinGate should make no difference.
A lot would depend on what exactly you lose every 10 minutes - i.e. what does things look like on the client at that time? Can you still reach the WinGate Server from the client? (Browsing to the machine itself)
* Can you ping the internal IP of the WinGate server?
* Can you ping outside the network?
* Can you resolve names? [dns works?]
* Can you connect to any IP outside of the network?
Out of curiosity, when you added the new IP, did you add the adapter's IP as it's own DNS server? (e.g. 192.168.0.1 with a DNS Server of 192.168.0.1?)

well the clients are losing the connection to the wingate server.
yes i can go to the server using the ip address from the server.
yes i can ping the ip and as i say before i can open a connection to the wingate computer to stop and restart the server.
from the wingate machine i still can browse. (only the client doesnt)
i havent try to ping outside the network.
i can resolve the internet server name from other computers on the net. (cant resolve any name from the wingate server)
when u say connect to any ip outside of the network u mean (visit any web page?) if that yes i can still browse!
No, the DNS on the wingate server is pointing to the DNS Server on the lan
Thx

Hmmm. Yet you say you can browse? What connection are they losing then?
Jun 22 05 5:56 pm
i can still browse from the internet server it self (winagte machine).
the wingate computer doesnt lose connectivity to the internet.
The client are the ones that cant browse.
if i restart the wingate service everything goes to normal for a few minutes then goes back down

sitting in front of the wingate server i can see the clients trying to connect to the internet but "the page cannot be display" message is the only thing they get.
by restarting the service they can browse again.

Any suggestion?

Hi,
Can you just clarify something for me, in your earlier post you said
from the wingate machine i still can browse. (only the client doesnt)....
i can resolve the internet server name from other computers on the net. (cant resolve any name from the wingate server)
so this is a bit confusing, you CAN browse the web but you can't resolve any names, so are you having to browse by IP?
Can you give us your IPConfig details from the server and from one of the clients?

sorry i did some test this afternoon and i can ping others computers from the wingate machine.
we make some changes on the DNS and the wg server appears to be working fine.
If someting happends i'll let u know
