Wingate - Problems - Networking / Authentication

Apr 28 08 12:52 pm

All,

i have come from a software similar to wingate, called Winproxy.
iam currently trialing wingate as Winproxy has been sold off.

I have correctly installed wingate server and confirmed its working.

Problem:
When i install Wingate Authentication software on the PC of a user, it does not automaticlly detect the Wingate server.

if i manually set the server, and manually set the IP within Internet Explorer to point to the gateway it connects, occasionally it will connect automaticlly and find the gateway with no problems

Problem2:
When i turn off Guest account and want to Authenticate using wingate authentication software, it does not authenticate correctly.

i have tried both AD and wingate database authentication, both with same results.

i have trolled your FAQ's and fourms and did not find anyone else having a same problem as above.

Is it anything iam doing wrong or missing?

NOTE: Windows and other firewalls are off
Wingate is "default" out of the box build

any help would be great!

Tim

Hi Tim,

Few things to check which might be relevant.

Is the client supplied an IP address by DHCP?

If static have you DNS and Gateway for the Internal NIC in Wingate set in each client pc?

When the client cannot authenticate, can you ping the Wingate machine from that same client.

Just check the adaptor usage too in case like this.
