Ban An Entire domain

Aug 05 05 10:44 pm

Hi all
i have a domain i would like to ban completely but when i put the domain (www.example.co.za) into all the ban lists i can find (ftp, logfile, rstp, socks, telnet, vdo, www, xdma, extended networking)
it does not even ban the front page of the site let alone the whole domain

thank you in advance

Hi Sean,

When you're creating this ban in the policies menu of the various proxies, are you selecting default rights are ignored? WinGate uses the most permissive policy, so you can ban something in the WWW proxy, but if you say default rights may be used instead and you haven't created a ban in system policies, the restriction won't apply.

I Have set it to "MUST also be granted" under ftp, logfile, rstp, socks, telnet, vdo, www, xdma, extended networking.
but this only stops the main page on some of the pc's (not all)
(eg if the sites name is "www.example.co.za" and go there it says "You are not authorised to view this page" on some of the pc's and not all.
it is also not completely stopping the site from bieng viewed
