I am wondering if someone can shed some light on a speed issue that I am having.
I have licensed and loaded Wingate onto a Win2003 VM sucessfully but find that when users are redirected though the proxy, it's I/O is really bad. One or 2 users are ok, but any more and it's like molasses uphill in winter.
I created a standalone server and am only directing the I/O from my browser session to this new one and I find that it is also very slow for browsing. When I don't use the proxy and connect directly to the DSL modem speed is fine.
What is the bottleneck here? I've got a 100Mb connection on the LAN side and 1 Gb ram, but it is absolutly a dog.
I am going to try setting the DSL modem on the 2nd interface tomorrow, but I'm unsure this will help. Are there specific things I can do to get Wingate to work at line speed (5MB/s)?
Has anyone lese seen this?
Sincerely
update: After configuring the DSL modem on the 2nd interface, everything is ok. Speed works better with 2 interfaces....

Hi
Thanks for the update. Sounds like there must have been some contention issue using the same NIC for both inward and outward traffic like that.
Were you using connection interception or configuring clients to connect to the proxy? did you have the WinGate ENS (extended networking) driver installed?
Regards
Adrien
