Can you tell us a bit more about your setup? What kind of internet connection are you using?

How is the XP client connecting to the 98 machine?

When you installed WinGate did you see the network adapters listed on the network tab? You should make sure that they are correctly marked as internal/external.

I have a dial up connection. The Win98se PC which is connected directly to the internet has an IP address : 192.168.1.2 and the Windows XP PC which is connected to Win98se PC using a cross over cable.

Yes i can see the network tab in both the PCs. I have installed Wingate Server in WIndows 98se PC and the WGIC at Windows XP pc. Now what settings should i change in both the PCs?

I am able to browse in Windows98se, however, I am not able to browse anything on WInodws XP pc.

I would be very much thankful to you if a step by step instructions is provided to me with visual representation.

Thank you.

So the Win98 computer has an internal IP address of 192.168.1.2; correct?
From the Windows XP machine, can you ping that address; do you get replies back? (Windows) Start Menu --> cmd --> ping 192.168.1.2

For the WGIC to work, you will need to add a DNS address to the TCP/IP settings of the XP computer. The address to add in is 192.168.1.2 (If that is the IP Address of the internal network card of the WinGate Server).

First: Check what the DNS is set to for the Local Area Connection
(Windows) Start Menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all

If nothing is set, go to this location below:
(Windows) Start menu --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Network Connections --> Local Area Connection --> Properties --> TCP/IP

****Please note the WinGate server on Win98 should not have a DNS and Default Gateway set on its internal network card (192.168.1.2)

If you are still having issues, please let us know.

1. You may want to set up a proxy in internet explorer to try a different connection method.

2. You may also want to look at the NAT connection method instead of WGIC: http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?p=17352#17352
