Aug 22 05 5:41 pm

Hi all.
I user wingate5.2.3, client use SQL Query analyzer connect to SQl server error (Windows client not use proxy):
"Unable to connect to server 224.24.65.58 (Example)

Is this connecting from a client behind the WinGate Server to a server on the Internet? (If yes, how does the client connect through WG? [wgic/proxy/nat] Does this work if you do it directly from the server itself?

This kb article from Microsoft might be of use as it talks about the problem. The test with establishing the connection directly from the WG Server would help isolate potential problem areas.

Client connect WG by wgic
and in system message, FireWall, i don't see any message.

Have you tried it via NAT? Did the knowledge base article offer any help at all?

I think, if I have new message in System message or FireWall, this is server or port, which is dened by Wingate sever, I can open if it block SQL client connect to SQL server

From memory - I think that would have been port 1433? What mode do you have WGIC set to run in on the client? (Local, Mixed, etc.)

Yes, I openned this port and WGIC I set Mixed mode

Ok, opening the port WinGate side should not have made a difference to the WGIC connection - only to the WinGate Server attempting the same connection.

With that port open, can the WinGate server connect or do you get the same message? If it cannot connect - can you check the settings as described in the Knowledge Base article?

I'm sorry. I don't see any message in System Messager or FireWall.

Even when connecting from the Wingate server itself? Does that work - can you connect to the SQL Server from your WinGate server?

Yes. If you try to connect to SQL Server database from the machine that has WinGate installation. Does that work?

Yes, that is good.
And when I use new computer which connect to internet not use firewall (wingate Server and client), SQL Client connect to SQL server is very good.
