Caching of website

Aug 25 05 5:31 pm

Hi There,

I'm facing a problem here with my internet browsing.

I'm working in an office, and all the PC's (about 40) connects to the main server which has wingate installed on it.

There's this newspaper website which we access to everyday, but it always shows the same day's news. I've tried clearing the cache on my browser and it's still the same.

The only PC which shows the website updated, is the main server that connects directly to the internet.

I tried looking up on the gatekeeper's help file, and manage to edit some details on the "cache" options. Before this.. the option for "re-heck new HTML pages" was 2 days, and "re-heck other new pages" was 60. I've changed both values to 1 day, and also purged the cache. Still doesnt work.

Can anyone here help me out? Would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hi James, Thanks for the quick reply... i've tried what u showed me in the image... and it's still the same. The newspaper site still doesnt show the current news. I've even cleared the cache on my pc.

Must i wait for a certain timeframe for wingate to refresh or something like that? I've taken the screenshots of my cache properties... here they are :

Is there anyway i can disable the caching features of gatekeeper? Please help. Thanks

Your caching policy shown in those links looks correct. I have added to a test machine, and will check the website in question when it updates tomorrow.

Is there anyway i can disable the caching features of gatekeeper?

1. Purge the cache.
2. Uncheck the cache options.
3. Restart the WinGate engine.

Hi,

When this problem surfaces you can disable all caching in Wingate to eliminate it from the factors.

Setting the browser cache to '0' for Mozilla [or as low as possible in other less savvy browsers] can help.

Use NAT for clients.

Actually my my own network uses caching for two users, and the Criteria only contain a partial string, for example the site: ato.gov.au is NOT cached with the string NOT HTTP URL Contains "ato" and that is all required for it to be 100%, somehow the full url was not reliable but that is from memory only.

Hope this helps.

Visited the thestar.com.my again today. Caching policy worked as expected based off the image in my first post. If it is not working for you, have you tried Nevs suggestion?

What version of WinGate are you using and on what OS?
