more on pcAnywhere

May 14 08 5:15 am

I've read lots of the discussion topics etc. on setting things up for pcAnywhere behind Wingate. In fact, it used to work on our network, but some time over the past few months it stopped.

Currently, the setup works ok if I try to connect to from a client machine on our network (in order to control a pcAnywhere machine also on our network), but not from an external client, which is what we really need.

I have specific mappings to specific ports set up (services set up separately for TCP and UDP). The TCP logs keep showing the following error:
Error: Caught socket exception in CTCPMappingSession::OnRead() Connection Reset by Remote Host - terminating

I think it may have to do with the Bindings settings in the TCP properties -- of course we have the 127.0.0.1 loopback binding. I also have "Bind to any IP address on any external adapter" set. I'm not sure what (if any) additional bindings need to be set. I've tried:
a) no other bindings
b) Bind to any IP address on our LAN
Neither seems to work -- still get the above error message.

Any help appreciated.

/Bill

Hi Bill,

Do you have more than one connection to the Internet from the WinGate computer?

Could you post your windows route table to the forum?

Thanks

OK, I found the problem. The bindings on the UDP were not set correctly -- for some reason was showing up as errors on TCP.

Thanks.
