Login Error

May 30 08 2:17 pm

Since converting WinGate user database to NTLM I've started get the dreaded "Problem connecting to server" error.

Nev mentioned getting the same error in a post on the KAV product board last week -
forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=39235#p31584

You can't stop WinGate and the only resolution is to reboot the server.

I'm running 6.2.3.1139. History logging is turned off. Windows Server 2003.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: The proxy service does not work when this is happening.

Hi Labull,

Noticed you never received a response to this post. I'm also seeing a marked reduction in activity by the Qbik team on the board. I hope this means an impending release of the new version, but...

One of the staff gave me an early version of 7 to test a problem I was having. I could not get the ENS driver to load, so I asked him a couple of different times if he had any ideas about that. Never heard back.

Hope you're doing OK, and survived the bad weather there in DC.

Hey Rick!

Yup, we survived the storms - again. But I think I'll just throw some Koi fish in the back yard cuz I don't know if it will ever drain. Maybe I can grow rice or something.

As for the login problem, I've backed off using NTLM since I was just testing it and things seem to be OK now. We've got a pretty big AD so I think that was making it unhappy. And I honestly can't expect the fine Qbik folks to fix all the problems with the old version while working on the new one. I'm certain they're pushing that project just as fast as they can. I'm really looking forward to getting a copy of version 7!

BTW - send me an email at macsbox22 at comcast dot net and I'll show you where I work.

Hi Guys

Sorry for reduced response... we are busy getting the release together. I heard you couldn't get ENS loaded. Is that on Dell hardware with RAID drive? We've been battling to get a system to repro this on (bought a Dell server, but it doesn't exhibit the problem)...

Hi Adrien,

I heard about your battle. I bought an aftermarket Intel S3000AH Server Board and am using two 750g SATA drives in a RAID 1. I'm using the onboard Intel RAID. Cannot get ENS to load.

Funny, I built a server using this exact same board (same model but different board) on another server project I did for our church, but bought a Promise 8350 RAID card... which worked perfectly. Wingate was very happy with that hardware. Something with the onboard Intel RAID must be the culprit. I emailed Logan last week with the list of the supported RAID controllers that my onboard Intel card may use with the RAID driver I'm using.
