Using specific Internet Line for specific users/gourps

Aug 22 08 7:37 pm

We have 02 internet lines: DSL and Leased Line.
We have 02 groups of user: management and normal staff.

Is it possible to set management group to use Leased line and normal staff to use DSL?

Because managment group usually uses VPN, corporate e-mail, VoIP ... then they need a stable line.
For normal staff, they just surf web, check personal e-mail, read news ...

Thank you,

Hi,

Yes I think so.

What you could try is to create a 2nd WWW Proxy service, on that proxy use another port eg: 3128 // 8080 for example.

With the low priority group set the gateway feature in the 2nd WWW Proxy to point to the required DSL [you could also use the gateway in other services to source the connection you prefer].

On each client set their browsing to point to this Proxy server.

To create a new WWW Proxy, right click the current one and select Clone then give it a name such as WWW2 for example.

Not sure if what you want can by done by Policy [on a group level that is].

WinGate 7.x will let you make these sorts of decisions and configurations within policy, but for WinGate 6.x, Nev's solution is the best one.
