edit: as from WinGate 6.5.0, support was added for Vista, 2008 and windows 7.
WinGate 6.x doesn't support Windows 2008 or Vista. Support for these operating systems will be included with WinGate 7.x. I recommend continuing to use a supported operating system (e.g. 2000/2003/XP) until WinGate 7.x is released.
Alternatively, you could use virtualisation software to host a virtual machine under your Windows 2008 that WinGate 6.x does support. Microsoft Virtual Server, or VMWare Server are good free virtualisation solutions.

Hey guy,
this is a joke .. why using a Virual Server to install a old Windows Version for the Wingate ha ha ... he ask for Windows 2008 and you told him he should use a VM... maybe he did not like to do... maybe he have no old Windows Version... maybe he can use Linux for Wingate... ohhh... yes it is not possible i remember there was also a never released version of Wingate for Linux ha ha...

he didn't say the customer "should" use a VM. He said he "could".

Absolutely correct you can use HyperV and a VM running WindowsServer2003 R2 (or Linux + XEN instead of w08 + HyperV- but then you might not use wingate at all).
That is exactly what I am doing since month', means network is secured by a HW firewall + SW proxy/firewall (wingate) running on a VM (win2003 R2). This is currently (for me) much easier compared to the effort of completely switching to a new solution (like linux based or other prof. SW firewalls/proxies).
Of course this is NOT a solution if you have to pay for each OS licence or if you don't want to use VMs.

@Adrien:
If you send me a download link I would also do some pre beta testing on Win2008 64/32bit.

Olaf - I've sent you an email, let me know if you don't receive it.

Hi I have been running wingate 6 on Server 2008 STD ED for the last few months with out major issue. Adrian can you elaborate on likely problems if it is not supported please? The only very minor issue I have, and this will be because of the Windows firewall which I have left enabled to further reduce the attack surface, is I cannot remote in from my iphone anymore - normal RDP is fine.

Any chance I could get a beta of Wingate 7 Enterprise (I run 6 Enterprise) on my Q&A System?

I have been running Wingate 6.XXX on Windows Server 2008 for months now with no apparent problems. I have one issue with Ipad email not connecting via outside WiFi to Wingate, however may not be a problem with Wingate though.

Hi guys,
We do support Windows 2008 server now, so we wouldn't expect you to have problems running on that platform.
