A lot of communication occurs between the GateKeeper and the WinGate engine so if you leave the GateKeeper open and connected, your system resources will be slowly used up in time often leading to instability. The best method to avoid this is to place a timeout on the Remote Control Service. If a GateKeeper is left idly connected to the WinGate engine, it will be disconnected automatically.
- GateKeeper -> System tab -> Remote Control Services -> Sessions
- Enable "Sessions time out after X seconds of inactivity"
- Set X to a suitable value value (the default value is 180)
- Click OK

- GateKeeper -> Services tab -> WWW Proxy Server -> Sessions
- Disable the session timeout so that WinGate will not close idle sessions
