Migrate Wingate settings to new hardware

Jan 29 09 7:08 pm

Hi there

We are currently running Wingate 6.1.4 Pro, Wingate VPN 2, and KAV for Wingate on an old PC.

We would like to replace this PC, so we now have a new box with WinXP Pro SP3, and installed with trial versions of Wingate 6.5.1, Wingate VPN 2, and KAV for Wingate.

What is the best way to migrate/copy/import all the Wingate settings from the old PC to the new PC?

Assuming all settings are copied across successfully, and system passes testing, how do we transfer our 3 licences from the old PC to the new PC? Is it simply a matter of using "Deactivate" in the Licence Management of the old PC, and then "Add new" in the new PC, or is there some other better way?

Thanks, look forward to your reply,
Gina :)

Hi Gina,

What I would do is to install the new version on the other server and test it with trial licences.

From the old server you can export the registry to the Wingate directory from Options-->Advanced menu --> Save Registry.

Stop the engine on the new server and import the saved registry from the old server.

Once the new server is working, de-activate // transfer // re-activate the original licences on the replacement system, should be 'good to go' as before.
