Ideal somputer specification for Wingate

Hi.

I have set up and tested wingate including VPN and am very happy.
The VPN tools are really nice.

What is the ideal setup for a dedicated computer for Wintgate hosting
10 vpns and 25 users at our corporate headqtrs - what OS?. Our remote sites are typcially
1 to 3 users and not included in the above count.

I would like a similar recommendation for Netpatrol. I have been unable to get
it to setup with out hosing the box (tried on XP sp2 and Win2003). I want to run
netpatrol on its own box.

What sort of link bandwidth do you have? CPU requirements are normally down to how many packets / sec need to be encrypted / decrypted for the VPN tunnels. We keep 16Mbps happy with very little load on a P4 3GHz server for our corporate VPN.

As for NetPatrol, Are you getting BSODs after you install it? If so, you might need a new driver. Drop an email past this man with your problem and he can send you the latest driver to try.

The box i am going to use for wingate is a dual core opteron with 4gig of mem.

What OS do you prefer for a new wingate setup: xp / vista / win2003 server or 2008 sever???

I will have 4 vpn's with fast DSL lines. Home office has a big line.

User count for the proxyserver will average 10 users.
