Resolve IP on "history"

Mar 26 09 6:18 am

Hi, I'm just trying Wingate and I wan't to know if it's possible to log what URLs are visited by name (www.google.com, for example).
In the "History" windows I can see the IP but not the name. Have I something misconfigured or I have to install a plugin...?

Thanks.

Hi

How does the activity show up in the activity window when someone is surfing?

depending on how your clients and proxy are configured there are many ways to connect.

the main options are:

* NAT (network address translation)
* Proxy
* SOCKS
* WinGate Client

If they are using NAT (network address translation), that means

* they aren't configured to use a proxy (in Internet settings, Connection, LAN settings)
* their TCP/IP properties have the IP of the Wingate machine set as their default gateway (or they are obtaining an IP address automatically from WinGate's DHCP server).
* The WWW proxy is not set to intercept connections (sessions tab in the WWW proxy in GateKeeper)

In this case, the activity will show like

NAT: TCP connection to XX.XX.XX.XX:XX

If the proxy intercepts connections on port 80 say, then the connections would show up with the full URL
Also, if the client machines are configured to connect to the proxy the URLs will show up as well. This is the recommended configuration.

Regards

Adrien
