how to access a non authenticated smtp server ?

Hi,

Here is my config : LAN -> wingate -> DSL router -> ISP SMTP -> Internet
I want to allow the computers on the lan to be able to send emails through our ISP smtp server which is a non-authenticated server. (I don't want to use the smtp server included in wingate).
If I plug a computer directly on the DSL router, it can send emails using the ISP smtp server without any pb. If I plug the computer on my lan I can't send any email. I always receive an error message telling me that I must use a authenticated smtp server.
I don't see what to do in wingate to tell it to let my computers using my ISP smtp server.

Hi boufon,

If you want your clients to talk directly to the ISP SMTP server, I recommend disabling the mail services in WinGate.

• Open the GateKeeper and navigate to System -> SMTP Server
• Change the Service startup type to Service is disabled
• Click OK

Do this for the POP3 Server, and IMAP4 server as well. Your clients will be able to connect out to the Internet freely on port 25 via NAT.

I did what you suggested (disable smtp, imap and pop), but the pb is still the same.
Any other idea ?

Check also on the proxies tab to see if there is an SMTP proxy. We don't install this by default any more, but if you'd upgraded from an older version (like much older) it could still be in there.

How does the traffic show up in GateKeeper when a client tries to send mail? Does it show as a NAT: TCP connection to ..... or something else?
