DHCP - 2nd ip range

Sep 16 09 2:43 pm

Hi,

Need help on how to create second ip range for class c in my dhcp ? As i have created but not working at all. Probably due to our dhcp is set to manual assign mode ?

-current ip range : 192.168.118.x (created by ex-IT guy at our company)
-planned 2nd ip range : 192.168.1.x or 192.168.118.119.x

Thanks.

Hi

the scope needs to allocate addresses in the same IP subnet as the adapter it's associated with. Otherwise you may need to create routes so that the OS thinks it can send packets back to those IPs from that adapter.

Hi Adrien

I have created second ip range as 192.168.117.x or 192.168.119.x but why still unabel to use it (released and renewed the ip) ?

Would you consider going for a larger ip range rather than creating a second IP range?
I.e. maybe a 172.16.0.0/255.255.0.0 range would be more appropriate if you need space for more computers on the network.

how many workstations/PCs/Servers do you have connected? that will be in that ip range?
