IP Blackhole

Oct 12 09 10:36 am

Hi Folks,
Have recently upgraded Wingate from v5 to latest version and appear to have lost the ability to "blackhole" offending IP addresses. At least, there is no longer an "IP Blackhole" selection on the ENS configuration page. I see that I can now add a particular IP address to the blackhole list by right-clicking entries in the "firewall" screen, but how do I add offending IP addresses gleaned from other sources?

Thanks
Neil

Hi, in ENS properties page there is still an entry on the left, called IP Blackhole - you can add any IP address there.

Gene

Thanks for that Gene, but in my copy of Wingate, the "IP Blackhole" is missing from the ENS properties. I have the following entries under "Configuration" in ENS Properties:
General
Routing
Firewall
Port Security
Policies
Logging

FYI, in case it's relevant, this copy of Wingate is running under a V4 license.

Rgds

Hi Neil,

The IP blackhole feature was introduced in version 5 of WinGate, so it won't be enabled by your version 4.x license. You will need to upgrade your license in order to enable and use the IP blackhole.

Here is a page from our website that shows the license controlled features of WinGate.

Hi Logan,
Thnaks for that. I think I'll just "back-rev" to the v5 I was using until last week, which did give me access to the IP Blackhole control page. i guesss Qbik must have tightened things up with v6.

Thanks to those who responded.
