hi all,
i have a question i m using wingate 5.2.3(build 901).i am using satellite as a downlink and use simple dialup as a uplink.wingate works perfect with it.but when i use wireless internet as a uplink or any other broadband connection.wingate did not route.where is the problem.can anyone explain.

Hello,
Version 5.2.3 has been really superseded by Qbik with V6, you can access most of these new improvements with your existing licence for V5.x.
That would be my first suggestion to upgrade and then check the adaptor usage in Gatekeeper to make sure any Internet NIC is branded 'external' and private IP's or your LAN is branded 'internal' for correct routing.

The uplink and downlink for a satellite connection have to be sorted out with your satellite provider. It's not possible to get a new connection from a third party and have it work with your satellite unless your satellite provider is able to handle this. I recommend having a chat with your sat provider to see if they can offer a faster uplink solution.

first of all thanks for senior members to reply my question.i have no knowledge about these wingate settings and have no technical info about satellite ips and routers etc etc.@nev u said change the version sir i tried it too but it is totally different then wingate 5.2.3.so i dont know where to go.and for second suggestion my answer is if both connection is sorted out by satellite provider then why it is working with ordinary dialup which connect at 33kbps.as a uplink and give me 1.5 mbps downloading speed.my question is simple why my other connection like broadband or wireless broadband does not work with wingate.i m using a dvb card skystar2.any other information i can provide if u want to know to help me.i will feel lucky if i get solution for this problem because ordinary dialup is worse to use.i want to use wireless broadband which connect at 3mpbs.so that will increase my download speed too.and no disconnectivity.again thanks for your help.sorry for bad eng.

The reason dial-up modem + satellite works is because the dial-up modem would be connecting to your satellite providers network. From there, they are able to handle your outgoing packets from dial-up and send the responses via satellite which makes this solution work.
If you send your outgoing packets through a third party network (not your satellite provider), they will not be able to send replies via your satellite connection because they have no control over the connection. It's not part of their solution. So if you have signed up for wireless internet, it is a completely independent solution from your satellite connection.
I believe your options are:
1. Abolish satellite and go wireless
2. Ask your satellite provider if they can provide a faster upload speed
I also recommend upgrading to the latest version of WinGate as Nev suggested. We can't effectively support WG5 anymore since all our current support techs were hired after WG6 was released and are not very familiar with WG5. The interface is not too radically different though, so it shouldn't take long to get used to it.
Your WG5 license will activate the latest version of WinGate, but will only the features that were available when you purchased the license will be available for use. This means upgrading to the latest version is free of charge if you do not need to use any of the new features that have been introduced since you purchased the license.

Sometimes the reason of having a conflict with your wingate when you are in wireless connection is that maybe the version of wingate is not compatible.I agree about the other opinions. Abolish the wireless and contact your service provider to enhance your connection.

what's the problem with WinGate 6 that means you have to use 5.2.3 for this?
Normally with a sat connection you just install WinGate and go.

Wingate 5.2.3 or older version can be used.
There are some settings to be configured in Wingate, which cannot be done in Wingate 6.

I'm struggling to think of what you could do in 5 that you can't do in WinGate 6. The main difference was in terms of service bindings.
But you can still achieve the same effect.
Which settings are you talking about?

yeah... binding.... :)
Nov 04 10 10:52 am
WinGate 5 allowed you to bind to IP addresses only (any number).
WinGate 6 also allows you to do this. The dynamic binding system by default uses rules for binding based on adapter type, but you can modify these rules to bind to specific IPs (just select the adapter and IP from the tree).
