Windows 7 Pro and Wingate 6.4.4 slow

Jun 08 10 1:30 am

Less than 1 month ago I did an upgrade on a wingate host machine.

It´s now running Windows 7 Pro 32bits and wingate 6.4.4, but the network config is exactly the same as it was before.

JFYI before it was running on XP32 and wingate 6.2.2

The internal address is 10.0.0.5 (server at 10.0.0.1) and the external is set to 192.168.0.2 (modem at 192.168.0.1).

Since I changed the OS and updated the version the internet seems to be kinda slow.

When you open a browser you almost always get the error "page couldn´t be found". You click on reload and then the page loads.

The loading times are kinda slow in general, as well as the e-mails, etc....

I did a test and removed the wingate machine from the network, putting a wireless router in it´s place and the internet speed is excelent in that situation.

I got a feeling that it may be something related with DNS, like when the browser requests the page the server is having some sort of trouble to find it at first, and then the timeout is shown in the browser.

I´m still looking for info in this problem and will do more tests, but any advice will be appreciated.

Thx

Hi

How do your LAN clients use WinGate? E.g. do they connect to the proxy, or use NAT or the WinGate client?

Have you tried surfing from the WinGate computer itself? also you could try surfing on the WinGate computer through WinGate (set proxy to localhost) to see if there is any speed difference between that and what the clients see.

Regards

Adrien
