Migration to 64bit Windows 2008

Aug 10 11 1:48 am

I am in the process of migrating from a Windows 2000 Server machine to a Windows 2008 64 bit machine. The installation and activation went fine, but I am having issues with restoring my settings. I exported the registry on the old machine and imported in to the new machine. I restarted and none of my settings appear in GateKeeper. After spending some time, it appears that my "old" settings are in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\Wingate where as on the new 64 bit machine they are stored in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Qbik Software\Wingate.

Is there any easy way to move them over? Can I just edit the text version of the registry file and change the path to the registry keys? Or does Wingate have some other way to import old settings?

Thanks.

Ian

Hi Ian,

There is an article in the KB in regards to this. On the 64bit target computer you will need to import the registry file using the 32 bit version of Regedit.exe.

Thanks. I tried to search the KB, but obviously didn't find the article you referenced. All is happy how.
