* When i try to check licence difference. Wingate 6 is coming just. is 6 and 7 licences has same features?
http://www.wingate.com/products/wingate/licensing.php* In one room i have 42 agents. i just installed wingate for one room. Question is in dasboard i can see "wingate in use" is changing to 35 to 55. is these numbers are correct? even all computers are off, just showing last number(lets say 55). So which licence i should buy. for 50 users or 100 users?
(if i restart the wingate services, that time i can get exact number of connected agent)
thanks

Hi
sorry, that link is wrong, it should be
http://www.wingate.com/wingate7pricing.phpWe're working on a new site which ties all this together.
As for showing 55 licenses, when you only have 42 computers.... this can happen if
a) you're receiving connections from the Internet
b) some computers have more than 1 IP, and are connecting to WinGate with both of them (e.g. WiFi + LAN).

what is Custom DHCP options? u mean if i will get professional i cant enter scope? or i cant choose semi-automatic?
is it possible to limit users for my trial key. i want to check it well and understand it well before trial finish.
thanks

Hi
restrictions on DHCP for licenses below enterprise are only that you can't' create custom options.
You can still edit scopes and choose mode - else DHCP would be unusable.
We don't have a license limit option for the trial, but the gauge on the dashboard should be accurate.
If your access is mostly web, you can look in timeline for concurrent users.

honesyl im trying to understand.
for example now in dashboard says 51 licence in use and in activity section i can see the ip. but all computers turned off already more than hour ago.
when i try to connect my laptop, wingate was showing 52 licence and i can see my ip either in activity section. Problem is 50 licence means totaly used licence (in day, in mean a while) is it not active licence?
btw if i restart the wingate service, that time im having exact users. is this problem or bug in wingate?
if i bought 50 licence means max 50 computers can reach in total. (i mean not active) (active might be 30 but computers and variables might change, in case of wifi)
i hope i am clear about my question.
thanks

Hi
The way it is supposed to work is this:
When something connects to WinGate, we check the type of activity it is. Certain activity does not consume a license, this includes:
* DNS lookups
* DHCP
* Remote Control session
* Winsock Redirector control connection
* Anything from localhost or local IP of WinGate
If a license is required for that activity, we check to see if a license is already held by the IP/machine. If so, we don't need a new one, else we acquire one.
When the connection is closed, we check if any other connections to that IP are still active and require a license. If not, we release the license.
So, it should only be counting active users doing things that require a license count.
It's possible there's a bug relating to what gets displayed on the dashboard, since we added separate counters in for that and count it in parallel to the licensing system (since the license manager can aggregate licenses).
So are you still using your trial license, or just the 50 user one? If you're using the 50 user one, and you're seeing the dashboard gauge go over 50, that implies a bug in the counter used on the dash.
If you're still using the trial, we need to figure out if you would be denied due to license if you go over 50.
I'll have a look to see if I can find any issue in the dashboard counter code.

thanks for explanation.
i mean when computers are off was showing the licence in use that much, thats why i wondered about it. is there any certain time to release ip/licence (10mins, 30mins)
in dhcp section i can see all ip is expired ('cause its computers off) and i set 5mins in dhcp services for renewing time.
i still use trial. will be expire april last week.

Hi
so the client computers were off, but you still see activity from that computer in WinGate Management?
The license is released as soon as the last connection that needed a license from that computer is closed.
The computer icon goes grey when the connections are all closed, and 30s after should disappear (configurable in credential rules, settings), but when it's grey it's not using a license.
5min lease time for DHCP is VERY short... clients will renew at 1/2 that time, so every 2.5 minutes.
What is the purpose of this very short lease? Do you only have very limited IP addresses, and too many client computers? Or some other reason?

p.s.
it could actually be a combination of 2 things....
Is the meter showing license count set to show max value, or current value? If the former, you'll always just see the max number ever seen.
When your clients renew every 2.5 minutes, I wonder if some are getting different IPs and then showing up as another computer...
