My network consists of of 15 computers connected to a router.
Only one of them has access to the internet. It has 2 LAN cards. One connected to the internal network, other one to the internet via an ADSL modem. I have installed wingate on this computer.
What I need to do is give internet rights to some users on my network(Not all). Also enable some users to send and receive mails via outlook(Not all). Please guide me the the appropriate steps to do that.
Mail server : mail.xyz.com (Both POP and SMTP)
Users with email Access: USER1
Users with internet Access: USER2
Users with both Access: USER3
Users with no Access: USER4
I have tried all possible combinations and binding and am still not able to create this setup. Any advise will be greatly helpful.
Regards,
Jay

What version of WinGate are you using ?
If you are using WG 6 then policies for users can be set in the appropriate services (e.g. WWW Proxy, SMTP Proxy etc), however all policies in WinGate 7.0 are based on registered events. Policies can be set against events that take place in services (such as the ClientConnect or ProxyRequest events for the WWW Proxy service).
Remember WinGate needs to know who the user is that is making a request, before it can implement a policy based on users (usually through authentication).
