HOW TO : creating wpad on wingate DHCP

Jul 16 12 5:16 pm

Hi Wingate Qbik Team

i using wingate 7.2.2 trial, and set to forced proxy to all client

then i try to create options 252 in DHCP definition
; Monitoring -> DHCP -> right click -> DHCP definitions -> create new option -> Name : WPAD / Descrp : http://wingate/wpad.dat / Option code : 252 / Data type : String (refer from this thread -> viewtopic.php?f=12&t=41016&p=37859&hilit=WPAD#p37859 )

then, add option 252 to Global Option in DHCP service

under client machine, internet options set to Automatically Detect Setting
but it doesn't work...

so, what & where are the setting I need to configure more @ to add @ insert to make sure client can get wingate proxy setting automatically.
OR any easy options like using policy to forced client to automatically detect proxy setting without needed client to manually enter proxy ip & port?

Hi Sawi

You sound as though you have followed the steps, but once you added the option 252 in the DHCP Service, did you edit it, and enter the correct URL string.

e.g. "http://wingate (or LAN IP) of the WinGate server/wpad.dat" .

This is where you would set the URL of the wpad.dat file.

As Adrien mentioned in the post you linked to, WinGate will auto-create the wpad.dat file whenever the client connects to the WinGate server for it. So there is no need to create it manually.
