An error ?

Hi there I would like to know if it was normal that Wingate only lookfor the name into the browser ? when I type in the IP adresse of the URL that i've blocked it gets me to the page.. So in fact the software doesn't support web resolution like squid does ?

sorry, I don't really understand your question.

If you enter an IP address into your browser address bar, and your browser is using a proxy, then the browser will send that IP address to the proxy (as part of the URL) and the proxy will connect.

In this case, no DNS lookup is required, since the IP address is already provided.

If you type in a web hostname, then WinGate will look that up using DNS.

So WinGate supports any kind of URL in that respect.
