First step would be to ensure that WinGate's mail services (SMTP Server and POP3 Server on the System Tab) are not started. If they do start they will bind to the ports that MDaemon is expecting to use.

They arent started. In fact i have disabled both SMTP & POP3 services in Wingate...Know what! it only happens when i upgrade to Wingate 6.1.1. I had to go back to 6.0 which i realize i didnt have to anything except to make sure both SMTP & POP3 services didn't start.

Hi,

What happens if you change the ports that the WinGate POP3 and SMTP are running on?

You need to make sure there are no services in WinGate that are running on port 110 or 25.

It's possible there may have been a POP3 proxy installed on port 110 if you chose not to use WinGate mail in the installation.

You would need to disable this as well.

I haven't even add those services. The only services thats running currently are
1.FTP
2.Logfile Server
3.RTSP Streaming Media Proxy Server
4.Socks Proxy
5.WWW Proxy Server
6.XDMA Proxy Server
7.Telnet Proxy Server

I am assuming that these configuration should not change when i do the upgrade but obviously something has changed. Which i am trying to find out.

Hi

You can check if WinGate is using a port that MDaemon may want in the following way.

1. Stop WinGate and MDaemon
2. from the command line run netstat -an
3. you will see a list of open ports - all that show as "LISTENING" are being used.
4. start WinGate. Do 2. again, and compare the result. This will show you which ports WinGate is starting on.
5. stop WinGate.
6. start MDaemon
7. do 2 again, this will show you the ports that MDaemon uses.

If there is a conflict between the ports MDaemon wants and WinGate is using, then you may need to disable a WinGate service (or change its port number).

I have gone through all of that and i see there is quite a few ports that both Wingate & Mail Daemon uses but (110 & 25) is only being used by Mail Daemon. I have gotten them to be now working but the users of OUtlook Express are being denied access to their mails comes up with this error (Your server unexpectedly terminated the connection.Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems,or long period of inactivity.) when this happens it means that the firewall is stopping the clients from accessing the mail server even though i tell the firewall to allow users to ping the server. I have to do some extensive research into this as i really want to use Wingate 6.1 in the meantime i'll have to revert to 6.0.3 as it works fine for me . anymore help will be really appreciated.
