Hello,
till last weekend i worked with win2k SP4 and a trial of WG. After a Hardwareproblem I
installed Windows XP professional and SP2.
I have now a very interest Problem with Windows XP/SP2 and Wingate (trial).
a) my Homenet Configuration
4 PC’s 1 Printer, 10/100 Switch. USB Cable Modem
One of the PC’s (192.168.0.1) is connected via the Modem to the internet.
Windows firewall is deactivated
Internal TCP/IP-fix adress Range (192.168.0.1 – 192.168.0.5)
One NIC (Connected to the switch)
b) my Problem
after th installation of WIN XP SP2, I installed a trial-Version of WG with all connections form the internet /TCP/IP Ports and UDP- Ports deleted and denied.
Local connection to the internet works fine.
Following Problem:
1) When WG is stopped, the other PC’s (like 192.168.0.3) can ping the Master and use some shared drives.
2) after starting WG (for internet access) the master could not be found in the net from the other PC’S but the master can find all other Computers.
I was looking at the wingate monitor and saw, that the firewall says:
Firewall blocked connections from 192.168.0.3 to 192.168.0.1
That means WG cannot recognize, that this are PC’s from the internal home net.
Looking at the Proxies, I found, that in the binding areas the IP-Adress 192.168.0.1 ist stopped and the DHCP-address from ma internetprovider is allowed as connection.
I tried to configure the address manually. Result: The entrys in the firewall
Contain the authorization of special port holes in the firewall
(e.g.: allow port 80 for 192.168.0.1 hole in the Firewall )
Can you help me please to activate the client PC’s?
thanks

Make sure that your adapters are marked properly - internal vs. external.
