redirect NAT traffic to alternate interface

Feb 10 06 7:18 am

greetings,

we have multiple links on our server, and have directed traffic from different proxies(www.socks and ftp) on to different interfaces, now i wish to direct traffic terminating on the dns and nat services to another interface other than the default one that wingate uses to send data by default to. how would i go about doing this? this is creating a major bottleneck on out server, none of our links can exceed 128k hence the traffic redirection arrangement. we have 5 128k links, 1 for socks, 1 for www, one for ftp and one for mail. now i wish to transfer all traffic from NAT And dns to link 5. i can easily do this with other services by adding alternate gateways, but i cannot seem to find similar option for NAT and DNS. any help would be greatly appriciated.

thanks and best regards,

Shayan.

Hi

For NAT you use the interface metric override. set the metric for the interface that has the gateway you want to use to 0, then it will have the highest priority gateway, which will be used for NAT, and any service that doesn't allow you to specify gateway (such as the DNS resolver).

Are these all dialup links?

cable model

hi there!

thanks for your quick reply!

they are all cable model connections terminating in etnernet interfce cards, wit dynamic IP's. where would i set the metric value? in the routing table, theres are onlya couple of entries, and those are reflecting the same ip pool the links share, obviously because they are from the same isp! and besides that, i cant seem to be able to edit the routing table metric entries for any interface there, double clicking or right clicking yield no results.

i hope im painting a clear enough picture for you to work with.

thanks and best regards,

shayan

Hi

Metric override is in advanced adapter properties in GateKeeper::Network tab.
