Different subnet for public access

Feb 13 06 11:48 pm

Hi,

We are currently using Wingate Pro 6.x on a Win2003 Server on a single segment 192.168.0.xxx. We have 2 wifi access point and now have request from the sales department requesting for visiting guest accessing the net on their notebook via these access point to the net.

I am worried as if we allow these guest on the segment then our network would be exposed, also they would be able to browse our newtork.

Is it possible for me to put in another NIC and create a different segment 192.168.2.xxx and the guest would be able to browse the NET via the wifi router. So while on another subnet with no routing they would not be able to browse the network.

Hi

Yes, that's possible. You would configure WinGate to not route between subnets (it will still perform NAT etc). You would also want to turn off broadcast relays (on the routing tab of extended networking).

Hi,
we have a configuration like this and we would like to administer the acces points connected on one subnet from an administrative PC on the other network.
So we need to access one subnet from the other but not the opposite. Is it possible ?
Thank you
