How to get outlook to connect through wingate

I am using wingate 5 on my proxy, and on my clients they are directed to connect to the net through the WWW proxy, but i cannot get outlook 2003 to connect to an e-mail server. I use Gmail and h have followed their instructions in regards to setting up outlook e.g. what POP and smtp.

BUt no matter what i cannot get outlook to work, doesn't show up in the active status on gatekeeper.

Basically, i don't use the e-mail server on wingate and i have only set up a SOCKS proxy and WWW proxy.

How do you fix this!!!
