Setup on a domain client

Apr 06 06 8:03 am

I am currently looking to purchase wingate and have the test version installed. I am looking to use wingate on a laptop that is being used by a domain user. The laptop is equipped with a Verizon wireless card to allow internet anywhere and also a D-link DWL-G730AP access point to allow other wireless users the ability to get to the internet while the teams are in the field. Is there a way to setup wingate on the laptop to allow this to happen even though the laptop is technically on a domain. We have been able to use ICS ( Internet Connection Sharing) on regular workgroup PCs but some users need to have domain access occasionally. Is this possible? If so, any helpful hints on setting this option up? Thanks for the help.

I did forget to mention that the clients that will be connecting through the laptop will be PDAs. I don't know if this would have much bearing on an answer but figured I would add it.

Hi,

Yes, you can share the internet connection from the laptop to allow other colleagues connectivity. You would set it up for NAT, and you would probably want to use the WinGate User Database.

Here is a link to guide you with the setup for the NAT connection method; take particular note of Section 2.; it will guide you to set your NICs as Internal/External. In your case the Verizon card that points towards the internet will be marked as External, and the DLink Access point that will be marked as Internal.

Also, PDAs will work with it.
