WG & VNC (Port redirection)

Hi all,

what (where) is the easiest/best way to set up port redirection in WG?
My customer's WG-server is connected via ADSL with DDNS installed and I managed to direct a port from router to WG to access WG-server via Internet, using VNC.

How can I redirect another port number, say incoming 2559 to (Lan) 10.0.0.2:5900

I tried that, but it still doesn't work.
1) If I set the Wingate PC's VNC server to port 2561, I can connect to it from Internet. So the router is passing through 2561
2) If I, from the Wingate PC, realvnc to local ip 10.0.0.2:2561 it works. So the local machine's VNC works on that port.
3) From the internet, (after changing WG PC VNC port to something other that 2561, of course) , and applying changes as above in screencapture(apart from port 2561 instead of 5900), if I try xxx.ddns.org:2561 I cannot connect to local PC. In the history I can see the connection coming in with the redirect icon next to it, but it doesn't work.

Am I missing something?

Oops,

In the image, change the two 5900s to 2561

And in the bottom right in the brown box, set the Override Port field to 5900. Set the VNC server on 10.0.0.2 to listen on 5900

I'm still having problems with this. (The Internet connection was marked as 'Internal')

Now I see the ports being used in Firewall tab (Ticked 'notify on access')and it shows up with a yellow redirect icon, but still the client PC doesn't receive the port. If I log in with the same ip/port as setup above from the Wingate machine, it works, but from the outside, it doesn't...

Please help. The client site is far away and I must sort it out when I go back next time.

I just need RealVNC to work through Wingate...

1. Internet Hardware router forwards TCP Port 2559 to the external side of WinGate.
2. In WinGate setup a port redirection as shown in this image.
Please take note of the "Don't Translate Source IP" option, and the "Override Port" option.



3. a) For the computer on 10.0.0.2, it needs to know how to return the packets to the remote VNC Client. This can be done with a default gateway (NAT, to test, on the 10.0.0.2 computer, ping www.wingate.com), or with the WinGate Internet Client (WGIC)
3. b) If the packets are coming in through WinGate, it should also be returned through WinGate too; i.e. if 10.0.0.2 has it default gateway pointing somewhere else, you are potentially going to have problems.
