Apple MAC problem

Hi all, I've had to re-install my WG server's Windows and set it up again. Using ENS & DHCP on Windows workstations just fine, but an Apple-Mac user couldn't even get IP with DHCP and after putting in static IP he couldn't ping us & we couldn't ping him. He walked across the road to another Internet Cafe & connected immediately with DHCP.

Can someone point me to where I might be at fault?

How is this Mac machine connected to the network?

Ethernet cable, IP settings setup as 'Automatic'(DHCP).

When you connect your Mac, is it connected through switches/gateways?

1. Is the MACs network card led on i.e. showing connectivity?

2. When you set a static ip address on the MAC, can you ping a computer that does not have WinGate running and is on the same subnet i.e. take WinGate out of your testing?

3. Since you have said you have reinstalled Windows/WinGate, can you confirm that all NICs are correctly marked as Internal/External.

4. Are there any System Messages created in WinGate when the MAC tries to ping WinGate? Could be that ip address was accidentally black holed. GateKeeper --> ENS --> BlackHole (which would be damn unlucky)

Seems like the problem is sorted out now. The Mac had static DNS settings & a proxy setup that was invalid. I don't really know Mac's, but eventually found 'the problem'. Still strange that I couldn't even ping it though.

It might have had a firewall running that blocked your pings.
